Providing ways to respond to rapidly increasing allergic diseases

Dr. Lim, CEO of Protia Inc. (303360, formerly Proteometech), announced on the 20th that he announced measures to respond to allergic diseases at a symposium hosted by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan in order to overcome the recent rapid increase in allergic diseases.

President Lim, who was invited as a speaker on this day, introduced his 20 years of allergy research experience and also presented the history of Korea's advanced allergy diagnosis methods, drawing great attention.

Regarding the reason for the rapid increase in allergic diseases, CEO Lim said, “As a result of the decrease in parasites due to changes in living environment, the immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in our body that exist to respond to these parasites are now absorbed through contact with food or pollen. And the number of allergic diseases is increasing,” he explained.

He continued, “It is a global trend that allergic diseases are increasing significantly compared to the past. In the past, allergy diagnosis was conducted through skin prick tests for over a hundred years, but the number of medical staff performing this method was small and it was inconvenient for patients, so multiple allergien stimutation test (MAST) using blood sample is needed,” he emphasized.

According to Protia, 20 years ago in Korea, the majority of allergy diagnoses were through skin irritation tests, but now multiple allergy tests account for 80%. In addition, the skin irritation test can only test for 40 types of allergy at a time, but the serum multiple test can test for allergy to over 100 substances at once. At the symposium, the company presented an efficient testing method through its allergy diagnostic product ‘Protia Allergy-Q’ to local health department officials and allergists.

Meanwhile, in Uzbekistan, allergies are mostly diagnosed using skin irritation testing, and recently, to replace this with the multiple allergy testing method, 'Protia Allergy-Q' was imported for the first time last year. The product received a good response locally. The company was even invited to a symposium by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and presented its allergy diagnosis product to local allergists. The company expected that through this, Protia's export volume to Uzbekistan would also increase significantly.

CEO Lim, Kook-Jin said, “I consider it very meaningful to have been invited to the Allergy Disease Symposium hosted by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and even gave a lecture.” He added, “Through this symposium, new trend of allergy diagnosis technology was explained and get good response. Protia Inc. can target the Central Asian market.”
